Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor who was famous for her portrayal as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Following her marriage the actress is now known for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since the age of five and was awarded an award for the best Actress award at the Maryland high school competition. Her career in acting started after she joined the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first major performance. The film was followed by films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Her performance in the TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. In the early years of her career she performed in various stage productions. Parker is engaged to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. The couple have two daughters.
Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria over seven years had a wide range of adventures and cultural encounters from very young. She was a boarding student in London between seven and nine, after which her family moved into Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her youth and early adulthood. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school where she was able to study more than just dance but also theatre. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at the age of 16 following almost 10 years dancing. When she graduated from high school, Contractor received a scholarship from The University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained a Master's degree in Theatre. Contractor, who had been a student for a year was invited to audition at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the role. The show she played in 92 performances were praised by Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford accepts eight men with four females, along with a couple of other people for a 20 weeks of crash courses. The role was secured for Contractor for the following series of plays, and she landed Hermia's role as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
